Kitchen tiles have two jobs: a floor that can be walked on, and a wall or splashback behind the worktop. This page lists sale tiles described as floor tiles, or as suitable for both wall and floor. Patio slabs and outdoor paving are excluded.

The floor takes the wear, the water from the sink, and the dropped pan. Check the retailer page for floor use. A wall ceramic with a kitchen-looking colour is not a floor tile just because the photo shows a kitchen. Splashbacks can be a wall tile, including a metro or a zellige, as long as the fitter can seal the wet edge.

Heat from a hob is a fitting question. Leave the gap the appliance instructions ask for, and do not assume a sale tile is heatproof because it is porcelain. Grout colour shows every spill. A mid grout hides more than a bright white one, which is a practical choice rather than a rule of the price.

Work out the floor area and the splashback as separate rectangles, then add about 10 percent for cuts. If the range is clearance or end-of-line, buy both areas together so the shade matches.

Each row is one product. Measure the floor and the splashback separately, then price the tile you actually choose for each.
