Tile Deal HubUK tile sales and clearance

About and how it works

Tile Deal Hub is a UK catalogue of wall and floor tile deals. It is a price list with filters, not a shop and not a product review site.

What a deal is

A deal is a tile (or a job lot of tiles) whose retailer page shows a lower current price than a previous price, or a job lot sold as one line in a sale collection. Clearance, end-of-line and outlet ranges are included when the price drop is in the feed.

Where the facts come from

Each retailer is a configured source with an adapter:

  • Shopify shops: the public /collections/<sale>/products.json feed.
  • Pages with schema.org data: JSON-LD Product, Offer and ItemList, or Product microdata on the listing.
  • Nuxt catalogue pages, where the price lives in the embedded page data rather than JSON-LD.
  • WooCommerce shops: the public Store API, keeping a product only when the regular price is higher than the current price.
  • Visualsoft shops: the public sale listing, keeping a product only when the RRP is higher than the current price.
  • Awin product feeds: the adapter is in the codebase and stays idle until a feed URL is set.

From those sources we keep the product name, URL, image URL, price, was-price, size and any material stated in the title, product type or tags. Material and wall/floor use are classified from those fields. We do not store the retailer's description.

Photos

Images are loaded from the retailer's own URL. We do not re-host them.

Distance

Enter a UK postcode and the site asks postcodes.io for its coordinates. Distance is the straight-line mileage to the nearest showroom we have pinned for that retailer. Online-only shops, and shops that also deliver, are marked "Delivers nationwide". The showroom list is a seed, not a complete store finder. See retailers.

How often it updates

A source is fetched at most once a day, with the user agent TileDealHubBot, after checking robots.txt. The catalogue shipped with the site is a JSON file produced by npm run ingest. On Vercel, a daily cron can refresh one retailer at a time into Vercel Blob if a token is set. Details are on the crawler page.

What this site is not

  • It does not sell tiles or take payment.
  • It does not guarantee a price. The retailer page is the offer.
  • It does not copy range descriptions, reviews or installation advice.
  • Affiliate links are added only when a merchant id and publisher id are configured. Until then the link is the retailer's own URL. See the affiliate disclosure.

Other rooms later

The catalogue is driven by a category config (tiles, noun "tile"). Kitchens or bathrooms would be a different config and retailer list, not a second copy of the page templates.
